October’s End – T.A.P. In

Ten of Twelve

It’s the last day of the 10th month of 2020. Take a deep breath and relax. Being cool, calm, and collected has been an ongoing goal since spring. So much changed when COVID-19 impacted the world. How are you staying sane?

We’re living through a pandemic, which many of us didn’t see coming. There’s a U.S. election in a few days, and there are still people marching for the Black Lives Matter Movement. I hear many friends and family asking. “When will things get better?”

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”

 -Dr. Maya Angelou

This quote by the late Dr. Maya Angelou is a reminder for us all to do more, be more, and enjoy ourselves, even during tough times.

It’s important to focus on the things you do have control over, like:

  • Your thoughts
  • Your actions
  • Your plans

Your thoughts definitely matter. Whatever you’re thinking about impacts your mood, so thinking about your passion, compassion, humor, and style will help you thrive. Dr. Angelou’s advice transcends time. Your actions show you and the world what your priorities are. So, plan to thrive. It won’t happen by accident.

What can you do to make time for the things that matter most? Using a planner is a tremendous help. Whether it’s a physical book or an electronic version, keeping record of your goals and plans makes it easier to accomplish them. Schedule time to look at your daily and weekly goals so that you’ll stay on track. Sometimes, having an accountability partner creates another check point.

What Are You Looking Forward To?

The holidays are quickly approaching. Thinking of new, safe ways to come together with family and friends is likely a priority, but there’s more.

Ideally, you’re making progress on whatever goals you set for the year. If you find yourself having to get back on track due to so many changes in the world, this country, and even within your daily routine- you are not alone. No matter how big or small your goals are, keep going until they’re done.

One of my mantras for this year is, “Finish what you start.”

One goal I set was to author another book this year, so I started writing “Do Something New: 7 Steps to Recharting Your Path and Creating a Life You Love.” I had no idea how important creating a blueprint for overcoming hard times and thriving would be. I’m still in the process of finishing the draft so I can hand it over to my editor. How well do you work under pressure? I have a deadline and the clock is ticking.

At the end of the day, we enjoy life more when we make decisions that move us closer to our dreams. Remember to T.A.P. in so that your memories of this time and those to come include joyful memories. I can’t wait to share my book with you. It’s packed with ideas and research-based practices that will change your days for the better. Join the VIP List today and get the latest updates and a special offer on the day the book is published this year!

Until next time,
